Was ist Spiritualität?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liebe LeserInnen des 7 Generationen - Newsletters,

was für eine Gemeinschaft und was für eine Spiritualität wollen wir?
1. "Der Geist weht, wo er will". Spiritualität, die durch alle üblichen Grenzen hindurchgeht.

NEWSLETTER Nr. 43
English Version 07.04.2008

Dear readers of the newsletter,

"Preciousness of life and the way of community out of the addictive system of capitalism"

Below you will find more information about the symposium. In the German part of the newsletter there is an introduction of the participiants who have already agreed to come and an article I wrote about spirituality some years ago.

Real community is not possible without spirituality. To create a community means to establish a spiritual connection to somewhat bigger than yourself.

With best wishes

5. Open Space Symposium

of the 7 Generations Network, Pentecost 2008

The Preciousness of Life

and the way of community out of the addictive capitalist system

Friday, May 9th, 6 p.m. - Monday Mai 12tth, 1 p.m.

Hippolyt Haus, St. Pölten, Lower Austria

The Symposium aims to connect people striving for communal ways of living and for concrete social alternatives to life in a capitalist economy. Experiences, insights and conclusions shall be integrated into the ongoing work on the community project “Garden of Generations” in Herzogenburg.

All participants who feel like doing the same in their respective areas of life are cordially invited to join us as members of a permanent network for nourishing, supportive communal living.

What kind of community can lead us out of individual and collective addictions into a spirit of abundance, a life of co-operation, mindfulness and joy? How can we develop appropriate economic and political practices? What form can a loving connection with all life take in my everyday life? If we stop our daily recreation of destructive systems like capitalism, how will we instead nourish life-enhancing economic systems? What experiences do we have, what visions?

This Open Space Symposium would like to offer a space for exchange and experience: how can we transform political and economic activity, how can we create ways of living and social practices so that it becomes indeed possible to end capitalism and other systems instrumentalising humans and the world. To that end, we will give examples of the effectiveness of community in making life beyond capitalism possible, and we will describe and share experiences made with that path.

The set-up of the symposium aims to allow for a direct experience of this now freedom and this new community. Open Space does away with the distinction between „speakers“ and „audience“ and renders us all free, co-creating participants. Room is given to mind, emotion, body and spirit while we are developing a culture of communication where we all speak for ourselves. Conscious of our own power, we would like to explore avenues for action as an individual and as part of society, and to celebrate life as a wonderful gift embedded in a greater whole.

I see a number of essential areas and themes regarding the core work for real community.

I would like to specially invite all to share their experience, strength and hope in relation to these.

o) What each one of us can do: free oneself from individual addictions with the help of communities and the development of a spiritual connection, living authentically and in the flow; including the experience of 12-step-programmes (see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_step)

o) Mutual influences between individuals and society in bringing about addictive systems,

as well as the unfolding of open, life-enhancing systems.

o) Move from instrumentalisation, personality cult an obsession with success

to the joy of true human encounter

o) Move from a mindset of scarcity and fear

to the solidarity of everyday communal social security systems and “communities of flowing assets”.

o) Communities as space for human beings to grow and mature

in the unfolding of their own unique path of life within an open system

o) Children and elders as the columns of society (Sobonfu Somé)

o) Communities as safe places for healing

o) Communities creating space and support for political participation

All who have confirmed their participation are cordially invited to present themselves and their contributions in advance and to make that information accessible to all interested via the internet: www.7generationen.at , click on the button “forum”.

With the help of participants’ contributions, the organisers will also support travel costs of international participants.
